Hello to anyone who might read this blog... I am not inviting anyone as this is mostly just for me but if anyone stumbles across this then welcome. To give a little background on my spiritual life, well, I started out on the religious road due to my mother who of course never went to church that I remember. She thought that I needed a religious upbringing, and the majority religion in the state that I was living in, to grow up properly. I went to that church until I was 15 or so and then decided that it wasn't for me. I spent the next 10-15 years avidly avoiding any kind of church except for the occasional "Easter" service. I had a small "looking for my religious match" revival around the age of 22 or so but it was short lived and produced nothing but anger and frustration. I didn't even think about religion from then on until about 8 months ago when my 6 year old daughter started asking me about God. I wasn't sure how to answer her so I gave her a vague description of who and what I thought God was... she asked me more. I talked to a friend of mine who invited us to church (a non-denominational christian church) which we went to for about a month. It just went back to the same old crap as far as I was concerned and I quit going. My little one was not satisfied and she didn't give up...we tried a different church and TA DA she really liked it. I go now as well and I really like it too. It just seems to fit and I feel very "spiritually full" when I leave. I want more. She is getting baptised next month and so am I.
Ok let me repeat that: we are both being baptised next month with a female priest doing the baptism.
Now for anyone who knows me they would also know that I am anti-church all the way and have been preaching that way for many years.
For some reason this church just fits. I Love the Priests, one male and one female, and the congregation is very nice. I feel that I have found a religious home somehow... This is HUGE for me HUGE! I am excited about this new part of my journey and I hope to weave it into the eternal tapestry that is me.
I am still keeping all of my Goddess stuff too though as I don't believe that the Divine Light is male or female, both or neither, it just is, and we are all part of source energy. Part of what has allowed me to mentally participate in this church is the fact that women are equal and are able to participate in the church hierarchy at the highest level. I just feel all warm and fuzzy about church right now and I like it.
Ok enough of my cheer leading. I really just wanted to share my feelings, write it down, reaffirm it within myself. I am happy and blessed and grateful.
Love and light all...
